Viking Christian Leaders: Peace

Congratulations to Bethany Stroh (‘25) and Henry Schapekahm (‘25) who were selected as Viking Christian Leaders for the month of December under “The Wisco Way Word": Peace. We thank God for the way Bethany and Henry have modeled servant leadership at school and in the community. Any student or staff member may nominate a student for the Viking Christian Leaders Award which is presented each month to one young man and one young woman.
Bethany is from Big Bend, Wisconsin. She is a member at Christ Lutheran in Big Bend, where she also attended grade school.

Bethany was nominated for the Viking Christian Leader award for her leadership on the cross country team and letting her peace and joy shine through even when things are difficult.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Bethany has participated in cross country, track & field, Rock Climbing Club, choir, Marching Band, Pep Band, Concert Band, Viking Steel, Percussion Ensemble, Inspiration, and the spring musical. She has also been involved in NHS, VCLA, Hope Squad, Pageturners, WWW, and Plautz/ViTech, and she has served as an American mentor to an international student and gone on Wisco missions trips to Texas and Brazil.

Bethany has volunteered at her church, Christ Big Bend, by serving as a Sunday School teacher.

In her spare time, Bethany enjoys playing games with family, reading classics, doing anything involving music, and running.

After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Bethany intends to pursue a degree in education or healthcare at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Bethany characterizes peace in Christian leadership as being able to look to God and his Word for comfort in difficult times, letting our actions direct others so they see God’s peace in their lives too.

Henry is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a member at St. Philip’s Lutheran in Milwaukee, where he also attended grade school.

Henry was nominated for the Viking Christian Leader award for successfully balancing all of his commitments with a calm attitude and modeling quiet leadership, collaboration, and hard-work with a humble spirit.

Currently a senior at Wisco, Henry has participated in cross country, track, the Freshman and A Cappella choirs, Wisco Kids, Viking Steel, Concert Band, and the Brass and Jazz ensembles. He has also been involved in VCLA, NHS, WWW, Snowboarding Club, and Canoe Club, and he has gone on a cross country mission trip to Colorado and the Viking Steel Tour.

In his spare time, Henry enjoys snowboarding, camping, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and listening to and making music.

After graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Henry is planning on attending Martin Luther College for Music Education or History Education.

Henry characterizes peace in Christian leadership as bringing people together in the Gospel and reminding others that although we may have struggles in this world, Jesus has given us the ultimate peace of heaven.
