In honor of National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, the WLHS Business, Finance, and Marketing Pathway is celebrating its commitment to equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the fast-paced world of business and beyond. The pathway, which offers hands-on courses and real-world learning opportunities, has become a cornerstone of the school’s curriculum, helping students build a strong foundation in critical areas like business operations, finance management, marketing strategies, and entrepreneurship. Students are encouraged to invest in the future which opens up the doors for the various career pathways and industries that support growth in the world.
One of the key components within this pathway is a CTE student organization called Future Business Leaders of America which provides many students hands on learning in the world of business inside and outside of the classroom.
Senior Adalin Bogenschneider has made an indelible mark through her work with Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Since joining FBLA as a sophomore, Adalin’s passion for business, leadership, and advocacy has propelled her to new heights, most notably in her current role as the president of Wisco’s FBLA chapter.
Over the past two years, Adalin has overseen a remarkable growth with increasing membership by more than 100%. Under her leadership, Wisco’s FBLA has flourished with a robust slate of fundraisers, meetings, and events aimed at promoting business education and career development among high school students. Her efforts have fostered a community of young leaders eager to dive into the world of business and entrepreneurship.
Adalin’s commitment extends beyond her local chapter. Last year, she was elected Wisconsin State Reporter, a prestigious state office that put her at the forefront of statewide FBLA initiatives. As State Reporter, Adalin has served over 7,000 students by organizing conferences, managing social media, maintaining state communications, and promoting FBLA programs. Her leadership also extended to advocacy, where she worked to increase support for Career and Technical Education (CTE) by lobbying state legislators for a grant to expand access to CTSOs (Career and Technical Student Organizations) and bolster CTE programs across Wisconsin.
Adalin's impact at Wisco is not confined to FBLA. She has also taken advantage of advanced coursework, including AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Statistics further equipping herself with the skills necessary for a future in business. Through these courses, Adalin has gained valuable insights into economics, finance, and data analysis—skills that will serve her well in college and beyond. Moreover, Adalin has been an active member of the board of Wisco’s Plautz/ViTech Fund since her sophomore year, gaining hands-on experience in financial management, stock trading, and economic evaluation. The board’s work has allowed Adalin to apply classroom lessons in real-world scenarios, managing investments and learning the intricacies of the stock market.
"Wisco has done a great job by allowing me to advance my business education with their amazing CTE program. Without FBLA and these classes, not only would I not have been able to explore my passion for business, but I don't think that I would have made so many valuable connections or learned as many important lessons. I am forever grateful for the CTE program and what it continues to do for our school."
Adalin plans to attend a four-year college, where she intends to major in business management or economics, with a focus on management and marketing. She is also considering a minor in Spanish, as she believes it will open doors to more diverse career opportunities. Her hope is to one day work for a non-profit organization by making a positive impact on the world while combining her passion for business.
