The boys track & field team capped its season with a strong showing at the WIAA State Championship in La Crosse, finishing 9th in the Division 1 standings. Isaiah Hopf's championship in the triple jump highlighted the rain-soaked day.
Hopf earned the program's 10th individual or relay title by jumping 46 feet, 7 inches in the triple jump. He was joined on the medal stand by Jamond Allen, whose effort of 44-2 was good for 6th place. The duo end their WLHS career ranked 1st and 4th, respectively, on the school's all-time list in the triple jump.
The day was just getting started for Hopf, who earned a second medal in the 4x200 relay. He, Phrellis Lee, Robert Rehm, and Jacob Spudat got the baton around the track in 1:31.99, good for 4th place. Hopf capped his day and career with one more medal in the long jump. He earned 4th place with a leap of 22-5.25.
Elsewhere, the 4x800 relay team of Silas Ebeling, Luke Wegner, Michael Miller, and Vicente Janik placed 10th and senior Nathan Miller placed 22nd in the 300 hurdles.
