Vikings Defeat Red Knights, Advance to Regional Final
The Wisco boys basketball team rode a balanced performance to a 74-47 win over Milwaukee Lutheran in the regional semifinal game on Friday night. Five Vikings scored eight or more points, four grabbed seven or more rebounds, and three handed out five or more assists in the victory.
A strong defensive effort held the Red Knights to just 5-27 shooting in the first half as Wisco built a 38-18 halftime lead. Prentice Young connected on four three-pointers early in the second half to end any hopes of a comeback. The Vikings forced 21 turnovers and outrebounded the visitors 42-32.
Young led the team with 17 points seven assists. He was joined in double figures by Alex Hernandez (14) and Isaiah Hopf (12 points, 7 rebounds). Kon Knueppel added nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and Jamiir Allen scored eight points and dished out five assists. More stats are available here.
With the victory, the Vikings advance to Saturday's regional final. They will host Whitefish Bay, who defeated Pius XI in the regional semifinal round. Game time is 7:00 PM at WLHS.
