For the second consecutive night, the Wisco basketball team jumped out to a large first half lead over Pius XI and sustained it to a big win. One night after topping the Popes at home, the Vikings defeated them on the road by a score of 82-63 to conclude Woodland West Conference play with a 10-2 record, good for second place. It is the 32nd consecutive season that the Vikings have finished in the top half of their conference.
Wisco used a 19-0 run over the span of five minutes to blow the game open. Josh Knueppel connected from behind the arc to begin the run, Kon Knueppel provided the high point of the run with a two-handed slam off of a steal, and Prentice Young scored seven of his team-high 18 points during that stretch to help turn a two-point lead into a 21-point lead. The margin eventually reached 27 points in the second half before settling at a 19-point, 82-63 victory.
Young stuffed the box score with eight assists, six steals, and five rebounds to go along with his 18 points. Jonah Rindfleisch posted his seventh double-double of the season; he scored 10 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked five shots. Kon Knueppel hit three three-pointers on his way to 16 points, and Jamiir Allen added 12 points off the bench for the Vikings. More stats are available here.
