The Wisco boys basketball team improved to 8-0 on the season with an 83-67 win at Franklin on Wednesday night. Five Vikings scored in double figures as part of a balanced effort to knock off the Sabres, who came into the game ranked #8 in the state among Division 1 teams.
Isaiah Hopf opened the scoring with a three-pointer on the Vikings' first possession and they maintained their lead the rest of the way. A triple from Kon Knueppel gave the team its first double-digit lead at 25-15 midway through the half. MJ Townsend hit Wisco's seventh three-pointer of the half with a little over a minute to go to briefly stretch the advantage to 12 before Franklin narrowed it to nine at the break.
Prentice Young connected from behind the arc to start the Vikings' second half scoring and push the lead back to 12 at 44-32. Wisco maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half. The Sabres briefly trimmed the advantage to seven with 6:31 to play, but Jordan Glenn found Knueppel for a basket and a foul, and he completed the three-point play to end the threat.
Knueppel led five Vikings in double figures with 15 points. Glenn registered a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with his 13 points; he also handed out four assists. Landon Key and Prentice Young scored 13 points apiece, Isaiah Hopf added 11 points, and Jonah Rindfleisch managed nine points and six rebounds despite sitting much of the first half due to foul trouble.
