Discovering the Future of Health Care
Sixty-three students interested in the healthcare field visited the Waukesha County Business Alliance's Discover the Future of Health Care Expo. Students had the opportunity to explore various career pathways and participate in hands-on demonstrations in the healthcare industry such as: inserting an IV, taking blood pressure, using a pig lung to help learn about the respiratory therapies, and learning how a medical professional might respond to different medical needs through the use of an AI mannequin.
Many different jobs were represented from medical equipment engineering (Biomedical Engineering), medical device manufacturing, Flight for Life, nutritionist, nursing and NICU nursing, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, speech therapy, pharmacy technician, medical assistant, behavioral health, care for the elderly and care for children. Students were exposed to a variety of careers in the healthcare field, more than just a typical nursing or doctor path.
