During National School Counseling Week, we celebrate the impactful partnership between our school counseling program and Christian Family Solutions (CFS), which provides essential support to students through faith-based counseling and therapeutic services. Two on-site CFS therapists collaborate with school counselors to offer direct therapeutic support, helping students navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, and family transitions. Additionally, classroom-based lessons promote resilience, emotional regulation, and healthy decision-making, ensuring students receive holistic care.
One parent shared, “Counseling has been life-changing for my child. Really truly. To have another adult that my child can talk to and trust. She can feel safe to express everything she has been experiencing and going through. She gets a reprieve. She has been heard and understood and this has made a huge difference in her life. If it was not for counseling, I don’t know that my child would be in the great space. To have this resource available is needed. It is absolutely 100% necessary!”
Another parent added, “My daughter and her counselor formed a very good relationship and really clicked. Sometimes I don’t know what to say (about the things she is going through) and I can encourage her to talk with her counselor. Our counselor will loop us in but our daughter manages her appointments and this has been good; it’s ‘her thing.’ It’s very convenient also that counseling occurs right there at school and is one less thing to worry about (with travel and transportation). They work with her schedule and try to keep appointments during her study hall and that really helps too. It’s been so smooth.”
A student shared, “Honestly, it (counseling) has helped so much these past five years. It helps for someone else to see your point of view and then get another set of eyes on situations. It also kept me alive, sane, and here on earth so that is good too. I could tell my therapist anything and everything and it was nice being able to say everything to a person. It is nice to get it off your chest. I have a lot of trauma from a lot of different things so it has been helpful just to talk about it and find strategies that help me. Plus, it is with Christ so I don’t feel worried they will say something that doesn't reflect Christ's love and His work.”
Another parent shared, “I have nothing but good things to say (about counseling). Our daughter went through very difficult mental health issues in high school. Having counseling offered at Wisco was so beneficial. I don’t know what we would have done without it. I didn’t want her to have to leave school and disrupt her day, so having counseling on-site was a game changer. It’s an amazing benefit. Our therapist was absolutely amazing. The communication between our therapist and our daughter, the school, and us (parents) was awesome. This probably saved her life a couple times; it was that beneficial. Our daughter fully trusted her therapist and could be fully 100% authentic with her. She is now doing wonderful and has found her passion!”
This collaboration ensures that students receive timely, compassionate, and effective care in a familiar Christian environment, allowing them to thrive emotionally, academically, and spiritually.
