Our students' safety and spiritual welfare are our chief concerns, and we are grateful to be your partners in directing our youth. Have you ever wondered or talked with your children about their social media presence possibly being at odds with Christian values? Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok are the most frequently used apps among WLHS students. Read on for more information that will help you talk with your student and be more aware of their social media activity.
In the name of safety, we ask you to think about the following questions:
Do you check to see what your student is posting?
Are you aware of the content of group chats and conversations your student participates in?
Does your student have a private story?
Do you know which social media platforms your student uses and how many accounts they have access to (some share account passwords with friends)?
Do you know the passwords to your student’s phone and accounts?
Links to some articles of interest follow, and we ask you to receive them in the spirit they are intended — the safety and spiritual welfare of students. We recognize that the degree to which you monitor is a family decision which we can’t prescribe. We do, however, want to offer pertinent information and make you aware of concerns from our perspective as a partner in discipling our student body members.
