Four times this year, Taher, our food service provider at WLHS, will send a traveling chef to our school to provide a special lunch meal for students, interact with the culinary classes, and participate in catering events. This week, Chef Amanda Barnes is at Wisco serving up lemon chicken wings with black sesame rolls and cucumber salad for our students. This fun recipe, inspired from a trip to Morocco, combines a tangy flavor of lemon with aromatic Moroccan spices.
Chef Barnes had a busy week at Wisco! She helped with our Veterans Day breakfast, worked with our culinary classes with prepping for the special Moroccan display meal, prepared a Thanksgiving feast for the Board of Directors, and assisted with the scholarship breakfast.
Chef Barnes is an executive chef of TAO Chicago. She is responsible for overseeing daily culinary operations, culinary staffing, development, and product research and design. Chef Barnes has 18 years of culinary experience and is deeply ingrained in all aspects of the restaurant experience bringing a collaborative and integrated approach to her work.
