One of the ways students are supported at Honey Creek Hall is through regular small-group meetings with one of the dorm supervisors. The students are divided into groups called “houses” that they maintain a relationship with for the whole year. Houses meet with their designated supervisor on a regular basis as a group, and periodically one-on-one.
For each meeting, the groups discuss different topics relevant to their lives, such as conflict resolution, self-care, responsibility, or how to live with a roommate. Houses also plan two special events during the year—an off-campus fun outing, and a family dinner with a guest faculty member. House meetings provide an opportunity for relationship building between a supervisor and students in their house, and a stronger bond among the students.
