With a variety of fine arts co-curricular activities, students can find and discover talents in any area of interest. Students have the opportunity to meet new friends and gain valuable experience for future life roles.

Individual instrumental and vocal lessons are also available.
More than 85% of WLHS students participate in one or more co-curricular activity.

  • Choirs

    All choirs meet daily as a course option. The choirs present three major concerts each year and sing at conference congregations on a rotational basis. The A Cappella Choir consists of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It is a mixed choir which requires auditions for entrance. Cantorei is a female choir consisting of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. No audition is necessary to be in this choir. The Freshman Choir is a mixed choir and is open to all freshmen who desire to continue a structured singing experience beyond the grade school level.
  • Wind Ensemble

    Open to students in grades 11 & 12, Wind Ensemble is a performance-based course in band music with emphasis on the development of our God-given talents and personal growth in instrumental fundamentals, musicianship and technique. During the school year, students continue their development of concert music repertoire, providing exposure to wind band literature of the highest quality and at various levels according to ability. The band performs three major concert performances and is actively involved in providing small ensembles for area churches, WLHS events, and WSMA Solo Ensemble Festival. Students will be given small group or individual lessons as the band director’s schedule permits.
  • Symphonic Band

    Open to students in grades 9 & 10, Symphonic Band is a performance-based course in band music with emphasis on the development of our God-given talents and personal growth in instrumental fundamentals, musicianship and technique.   • Co-Curricular Choirs

    One Accord is a co-curricular vocal ensemble open to sophomores through seniors. Membership, by audition only, is determined each spring for the following school year. The focus of One Accord is to develop vocal excellence through high quality a cappella literature, with a particular emphasis on sacred, jazz, and contemporary genres.

    Wisco Kids Show Choir is a co-curricular vocal group which performs a choreographed show of popular music. Membership, by audition only, is determined each spring for the following school year.

    Jubilation, a handbell choir, performs at all choral concerts, and many school and community events throughout the year. Members are selected by audition, and open to all students.
  • Co-Curricular Instrumental Ensembles

    Co-curricular instrumental ensembles are students who are in normally in the Viking Band and include:

    • Jubilation Handbell Ensemble
    • Viking Steel
    • Pit Orchestra

    These ensembles rehearse after school.
  • Graphic Design

    Graphic Design is a course in which students will use their God-given abilities to create a variety of graphic projects. Students will learn skills using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as general design concerns such as balance, dominance, and layout. They will be asked to communicate visually and be put in the role of a graphic communicator for various projects!
  • Video Production

    This Video Production course will explore the world of moving pictures and visual storytelling. The students will learn about the complexities of a video camera and how to use the technology that is available to shoot and edit quality video. Students will be working collaboratively to make quality videos that range from commercial shorts all the way to a short film. Throughout the class, students will shift in their roles from actor, director, editor, and grip. Even though the students will be encouraged to act, that will not be a requirement. Above all this course will continue the student’s exploration of the beauty of God’s creation, and lead students to embrace lifelong creative decision making.
Wisconsin Lutheran High School has the largest steelband program in the state.
Viking Steel was started in 2017 and uses the steel pan native to the Carribean islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

WLHS currently has three co-curricular steelbands, two junior Vikings camps, and one summer band.

Viking Steel will perform at the 2024 WELS International Youth Rally in Colorado at Colorado State University on June 25-26.
