Where Success Means More: A Lifetime of Opportunity

At WLHS we view graduation day not as the finish line but as the start of a Christ-centered, productive life. To prepare students for that goal, we offer a comprehensive curriculum that creates paths to a four-year college, vocational training, military service, and the workforce. In addition, students gain valuable life skills through a wide range of co-curricular activities, clubs, and organization. Most important, all instruction and advising comes from Christian adults who are trained appropriately and have a sincere desire to support students and see them succeed. Wisco alum Maggie Johnston’s ('20) story is a telling example.
While a student at WLHS, Maggie tutored students in math and played varsity softball as a starting pitcher. She received an All-Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore from Woodland West Conference. In 2019, Maggie achieved the highest possible composite score of a 36 on her ACT exam.

When asked for advice on taking the ACT, Johnston recommended that students check in with their school’s guidance department. “I studied using resources that my guidance counselors gave me,” Johnston said. “The practice exams and test-taking tips helped me understand the format of the test and prepare my strategy, which made me less nervous because I knew what to expect. I recommend making time to study,” she added. “But don’t stress out about it too much.”

Maggie attends UW-Madison and plans to graduate in 2024 with degrees in Actuarial Science and Risk Management & Insurance (RMI). Maggie has made the UW-Madison's Dean List all six semesters so far. After college, she plans to work as an actuary in the health insurance field. Currently, Maggie is interning with Allstate Health and Benefits.

We wish Maggie continued blessings on her future!
