Morning Assembly: Being Witnesses in the World

WLHS continues to provide morning assemblies this school year about topics that are pertinent to the challenges and opportunities our teens encounter. October 3 was our first assembly, titled Let Your Light Shine: Being Witnesses in the World. Two student speakers, Natalie Schachtschneider ('24) and Janae Lampkin ('24), spoke briefly about their witnessing opportunities. Our main presenters were Mr. Aaron Wakeman (pictured left) and Mr. Jake Wasserman (pictured right) from the Friends Network, an organization dedicated to sharing the Gospel by building eternal friendships in cities and communities around the world.
The Friends Network is present in 18 locations, mostly in Southeast Asia. Their core belief and strategy is that everyone is a missionary who can share gospel truths through relationships. Mr. Wakeman is the Friends Network executive director, and Mr. Wassermann is a missionary in the Philippines.

At the end of the assembly, Student Council President Aubrey Bauer ('24) and Campus Pastor Phil Huebner ('99) announced that the Philippines will be a destination for the 2023-24 OHFHS (Our Hands For His Service) offerings and an international mission trip.
