Where Success Means More: Character Counts

WLHS has talented, committed and dedicated teachers, staff and coaches who BUILD CHRISTIAN CHARACTER and influence students for a lifetime. WLHS offers leadership programs, service opportunities, clubs, athletics, and more—all to help students develop the character and teamwork traits they'll need as Christian leaders and influencers in their homes, workplaces, and communities. A story of character in action can be seen in Marquise Watts ('96) chief experience officer (CXO) of the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx.
Watts was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wis. and played NCAA D2 basketball at University of Minnesota-Morris. A graduate of Atonement Lutheran School and Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Watts was known for his contributions on the grade school kickball court, on the basketball court running point, in forensics, on the Math Track team and as president of the business team. Watts was uniquely wired to connect with others – from all walks of life – even as a kid.

“It’s kind of how God made me,” he said.

Before starting as CXO with the Timberwolves and Lynx teams, Watts showed strengths in marketing and forging corporate partnerships. At Klutch Sports Group, he aligned athletes with some of the biggest brands in the world. While working at Adidas, he helped facilitate the signings of some of the NBA’s and WBA’s top players and later played an integral role in launching Under Armour basketball.
