Where Success Means More: Faith is Our Foundation

The Apostle Paul was inspired to write ". . . faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17). That message is proclaimed every day in multiple settings at WLHS. All students are in a theology course every day and gather for corporate worship in our chapel service. In addition our teachers, coaches and advisors regularly incorporate God's Word or biblical truths into their lessons, activities, and counseling. And the Holy Spirit does his work. Students reflect their growing faith in Jesus through the way they worship, lead, perform, and serve. An example of faith in action can be seen through Wisco alum Liz Henke ('10).
Originally from New Berlin, Wis., Ms. Henke teaches second grade and STEM for kindergarten through second grade at Risen Savior Christian Academy, in Pooler, Ga. She attended Martin Luther College with a degree in elementary education.

"I have the privilege of sharing Jesus with my students every day. Some of my kids don't have a church home so they only time they get to hear about Jesus is in my classroom. It's amazing that God has put me here to share his word with little ones.

I had really good teachers at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. They cared about us as students, they were available to talk, and they were ready to serve in any way. Wisco also prepared me to talk about Jesus. My friends love Jesus just like I did and we talked about our faith. Now it's usually the first thing I walk about with people. I ask them what they believe and where they go to church. It opens up a lot of different conversations."

During the 2021-22 school year, Ms. Henke received the Top Teacher award through WTOC News in Savannah, Ga.
