An ugly opening was not enough to stop the Wisco basketball team. The Vikings overcame a first half in which they shot just 16% and scored just 13 points to defeat West Allis Central, 65-44, on Friday night at WLC.
Jordan Glenn scored nine of his team-high 14 points in a decisive 17-4 second half run that saw Wisco score more points in a three-minute span than they did in the entire first half. He connected twice from behind the arc in the run, converted a jumper and a free throw, and assisted on a three-pointer by Kon Knueppel to help the Vikings turn a 24-20 deficit into a 37-28 lead that they would not relinquish.
Glenn pulled down a team-high eight rebounds to go with his 14 points and also came up with three steals, part of a harassing Wisco defense that forced 30 Bulldog turnovers. Prentice Young matched him with 14 points and three steals; he also added six rebounds and three assists. Knueppel was perfect on three attempts from long distance and added another bucket for 11 points.
The Vikings scored 52 points and shot 57% after halftime. More stats are available here.
The win gives the team a season sweep of West Allis Central and moves them to 2-0 in Woodland Conference play.
The Vikings travel to New Berlin Eisenhower on Tuesday, December 15.
